Coming Next! Yahoo! France

I’m a recent migrant to the USA from Australia and have noticed many weird and wonderful things in my time here like cheese in a can and pharmaceutical advertising. One strange thing I have noticed is a certain antipathy between the Republic of the United States of America and Republique Francaise (that’s France to the rest of us). Now I would have thought the wonderful democratic traditions shared and the Statute Of Liberty would have meant the citizens of the USA and France play well together but that just doesn’t seem to be the case. Who could ever forget freedom fries?

So we at Yahoo! Music got to thinking about what could we do to bring a sense of fraternity back to the relationship while living up to the ideals of equality and liberty that were at the heart of the two great revolutions of the 18th Century. How could we give the music lovers of France the chance to see some great new music while empowering them to choose their own favourites far from the crass commercialism and cultural imperialism that the US stands for to so many people in France? How do we raise the awareness of French music in the massive sea of disposable English language pop that permeates every corner of the globe? Their was only one answer: Coming Next! for France.

This is the first European installment of the popular Who’s Next? program, exposes our French viewers to some great new music, and lets them decide who we bring into the studio to film an exclusive performance and interview. If you are interested in what’s going on in the world of music outside the main markets, then this is a good place to start. And the French accent just sounds so damn sexy.

Enjoy,
